I moved! We know this. However, I’m still in the process of unpacking completely and getting settled in. I still want to paint my office, and I’m sorting through all the stuff I want in here, so it’s like I’m unpacking for inventory without totally putting everything away. I’m going to have to move everything out again to paint and get carpeting installed anyway.
I thought I could live out of the boxes for a while, but then I just couldn’t keep everything straight. Along the way, I found some cute stuff in places it probably shouldn’t have been, or at least not where I ultimately want it to live.
Sephora Hello Kitty 40th Anniversary Beauty Ruby Brush Set

I don’t always get to be so close to this. I got this Hello Kitty rhinestone makeup brush holder at the Sephora pop-up at Hello Kitty Con 2014. The box is signed by Yuko Yamaguchi, so I decided to store that for safekeeping. I got this case from IKEA and just sit her sparkly butt in here.
I haven’t seen many of these out there. This is the single most expensive Hello Kitty object I own. I also got the matching mirror.
I took that trip solo, and I’m so glad I did. I got to meet so many like-minded people, and I’m still in touch with some of them.
Fuggler Fugg Nugget: Lil Ron

Okay, hear me out. They’re weird, they’re a little ugly, but they’re also really cute. Lol. These Little Fugg Nuggets have colonized on my heart. Actually any Fuggler is welcome to my heart.
I was on Whatnot and one shop showed these. Apparently, she got them because her husband really wanted them in the shop. He thought they were so good. When she put one up to buy, she genuinely thought no one was going to bid, but I did.
I got two. One for me and one for Mr. Cute Effect. The teeth are my favorite.
Blondie’s Water Bottle

I found this in my mom’s cabinet. She actually kept a lot of cute cups from various festivals and trips. I’m keeping them and using some for crafting purposes, but this one I actually want to turn into a Cute Effect project.
I want to get those “cheater” rhinestones and strass out the logo. There is a Blondie’s that still exists, but the locations on this cup don’t. I think she got this pre-Blonde Asian existence. Either way, it’s fun and the colors are super cute.
If anyone knows more about this Blondie’s, let me know.
RMS Mystery Dumpling

I’ve gotten into squishies. I know it’s kind of like, why? This stuff is for kids. But I actually realized that having one of these around has made me focus better. I can’t describe it, but I didn’t know I’d actually benefit productivity-wise from having squishies around.
In the world of squishies, RMS Mystery Dumplings are something people try to collect. They’re a lot like blind boxes because you don’t know what you’re getting until you open one, and there are rare chase dumplings.
They’re so cute, and I like seeing this face looking back at me. Mr. Cute Effect and I are currently on a quest to get me a pink dumpling.
Otamatone

I totally forgot we had these until I saw a video of one of my favorite sumo wrestlers, Ura, playing an Otamatone this size. He was like, I play the bigger one, but nonetheless he obliged.
Then, when I was unpacking a box, these were smiling back at me! I’m terrible at playing it, but it’s still fun. There’s something funny about having a giant music note looking at me from a bookshelf.
Extremely Extra Large Rilakkuma Plush

I may have highlighted this Rilakkuma bear before, but I had to again because he looked so cute just laying among all the musical instruments.
This Rilakkuma was an impulse buy from JellyBeet, and I’m glad I got him when I did. Getting a licensed plush this big is probably harder these days. If you look at the scale compared to my hand, you’ll get a sense of how big this cute baby is.
When I get my office and everything closer to ideal, I’ll be using him to help me frame up my shot for any videos I’m going to make. He’s on extended break from production right now.
Final Thoughts
A lot of people have collections that only a few people in their lives know about. It’s not like I’m trying to create a museum of cute things, but I definitely prefer to surround myself with things that appear to have more cute personality.
Just like a lot of the things I share that I made years ago, I want to share what I have so it can be on display somewhere and become part of a digital archive that isn’t my phone.
I’m not sure where these things will ultimately live in our house. It won’t be a weird cute museum, but it also won’t be a place where the color tan comes to retire or die.
