The Cute Effect is a DIY blog where I share the things I make, what actually works, and the projects I’ve kept over time.
What this is
This is where I share the things I make and the way I think about them. Most of it leans cute, and a lot of it starts with me wanting to customize something for myself.
How this started (and why it still exists)
I started this blog in 2015 because I thought I was going to launch a handmade shop. I wanted a place to document it, but I never quite got there. I was dealing with a lot at the time and couldn’t get it together, so I stopped posting.
I came back to this blog on accident. I was trying to use the login for something else and realized it was still live in 2026. Not only that, it had been getting views, especially on my decoden simulation cream post.
So instead of starting over somewhere else, I kept it going.
What you’ll find here
Making things that lean cute
Trying materials and techniques and seeing what actually works
Revisiting things I made in the past and so I can archive and appreciate my work
You’ll also find collections of cute things I keep around, along with things I’ve made in the past and projects that never fully came to fruition. I also share reviews on tools and materials I’m curious about as I go.
I tend to work with resin, rhinestones, decoden, and anything I can customize for myself while making it feel a little more me.
This isn’t a blog full of perfect tutorials or “top 10” lists. It’s more about what I actually do and sharing thoughts that a lot of people probably have but don’t share.
Where to start
Most people land here from my decoden simulation cream post, which I wrote years ago. I’ve been slowly building from there and bridging the gap between then and now.
If you’re here for that, you’re in the right place.
Where this fits
This is one part of what I do. My lifestyle blog lives at Blonde Asian, and this is where I keep the DIY side of things.
