Let’s Chat About the Simulation Cream . . .
said no one ever. I mean that in the most non-offensive way possible. Whenever I have done searches for deco whipped cream, this is one of the brands that I saw pop up regularly. The tube looks friendly enough and if it’s everywhere, at least online, someone has to be using it. If you remember a while back, I did project where I created a candy dish with a fake whipped cream look for the first time. I used 100% white silicone because that seemed to be the best type of silicone to use as the consensus stated on the internet. While reading this post, any contrasts I make, if not stated, are to my experience with the silicone whip. I think it’s a fair way to do this product review as the majority of us, deco royalty, have easier access to silicone. I purchased all the supplies myself. I am just a deco lover who wants to share her experiences with you to help you make informed decisions.

I decided to give this whip a go and create a delicious phone case. Let’s start with the boring stats. I wouldn’t do this normally, but the tube has all its credentials in Chinese. I used Google Translate on my cellular phone to help me decipher what this product contained and it’s origin. Here is what the translation turned up:

- Cute Sweet Inspired Cabochons
The Simulation Cream (SC for short) can be used straight from the tube. HappyKawaiiSupplies sends you two random screw on tips for your whipping pleasure. I got an open star tip and a shell tip. I opted to use the shell tip for this project. I decided to use this whip as intended from the manufacture. I could have squeezed all the contents into a piping bag and used my own piping tip, but I felt like that wouldn’t produce a true sense of use. As I recalled from my initial silicone whipped cream experience, it was easier to pipe, if the whip itself was warmer. Having said that, I decided to “warm up” this SC tube by rolling and manipulating it in my hands with the lid in place.
I unscrewed the cap and went at it. If you check out the video, I started from the top and worked my way down. From my past experience, the silicone dried pretty quickly so I felt the need to pick up my piping pace (say that 10 times fast) and I decided to start working across and down. I wanted to be able to place my cabs and have them stay. Although I found my self more balanced visually with my piping, it wasn’t necessary to change my pace or direction. The SC had a good buffer time to set cabochons as you please. The deco whipped cream had a lovely smell. That is definitely something the silicone did NOT have.
Since this decoden cream is water-based, it was easy to remove. I got some on my fingers and at times, I needed to wipe the tip of the cream dispenser. It wasn’t a struggle at all. I always feel pressured to work quickly and accurately when using whipped cream like mediums. It was nice to know that I could protect the quality of the project by being able to take the time to wash my hands and/or wipe the tip. As the project continued on, my hand did start to fatigue and it was getting harder to squeeze and extract the whipped cream from the tube. By the time I covered the whole case, I needed to massage my hand a bit. The 50g tube was enough to cover one iPhone 6 case, in the manner I piped.
Cabochon placement was so effortless. It was fun to smash them into the cream. Also, I was able to remove and reset some cabs if I didn’t like their placement. I bought these tiny fake sprinkles from Delishbeads and the amount you receive is more than any deco princess could use if he or she were using them as true jimmies. The sprinkles fell into place with ease and since it has dried, none of them have come off the whip. With the silicone, the sprinkles fell off and some didn’t even get a chance to make a little home, the cream had begun to cure.
The next step of this project was for me to add another dimension of sweetness. I love caramel and gold is my favorite color. I opted to use gold puffy paint because I grew up in the 90s and I just wanted to give this a try before I bought any actual deco sauce. I figured since it dries permanently to t-shirts after 24 hours, why not ?! I lined the ridges of the shells to add more contrast to the over all look of the case. I think it came out rather yummy and I was quite pleased as to how smoothly the process went.
I did this project while I was out-of-town, so this case has been dried and sitting around for a little more than a week. Unfortunately, I did notice some shrinkage. However, this did not ruin the over all aesthetic of the piece. There as no cracking and no weird off-putting smells! So that is a plus!
Cherry on Top? | Conclusion
Pros:
- Can be used straight from tube
- Water based formula allows for easy clean up
- Does NOT dry too quickly to all time for setting cabochons
- Smell is pleasant
- Does not crack when completely dry
Cons:
- 50g basically only covers one phone case, I was hoping it would have some left over
- Once dry, this does shrink.
- Tube is convenient for immediate use, but my hand got fatigued squeezing the whip out.
I’d use this deco whipped cream again. I’d like to purchase a larger size and I’d probably squeeze it into an actual piping bag. The product I thoroughly enjoy, I do not like squeezing it from that packaging. Take the time to check out the time-lapse video I did of this project. Hopefully it will inspire you to do greater things!
