Kimmy Tamagotchi | KawaiiCustomLand | Interview

kclicm_fullxfull.66024991_3au2vvisnzwg8ckc48kcThere are so many lovely deco princesses that are floating around. I found Kimmy Tamagotchi, the owner and artist for KawaiiCustomLand, on Instagram. She liked and commented on a few of my pictures. It became evident that she like kitty cats just as much as I do! I emailed her asking if she’d do a blog interview and without hesitation she said yes. I sent a blog questionnaire from which I have paraphrased some of the content due to translation and language barriers:

Hailing from France, Ms. Kimmy Tamagotchi has tremendous sense of cuteness and style. She has an attraction for everything that comes from Japan. The food, culture, video games, etc. She doesn’t claim to know everything entirely of Japanese culture, but she has a great respect for it and she really enjoys discovering a country this extraordinary.

Among her passions,  she loves kawaii, fashion and above al,l do it yourself (DIY) creation of mobile phone cases. She likes to share this passion of  creations that she makes with love. Kimmy would already like to thank the people who believed in her and trusted her by buying her creations and hope you discover other marvels you wonder over time.

Would You Rather. . .

Q)Would you rather swim in a pool or the ocean? Why?

A) I would feel better to swim in the ocean. The ocean is so full of wonderful things and all these color multitudes soothe. It may sound unbelievable but I would have liked to be a siren in order to escape the bottom of the ocean.

  • When I read the response to this question, it was really nice to see a sense of truthfulness and sincerity in this answer.

kclicm_fullxfull.65803371_5yx9qog15hwcgwwgkkggQ) KawaiiCustom was on Etsy since April 2015, but it is very obvious that you have been crafting longer than that. Your creations are really well designed, which is why I became a big fan. How to sell your art has evolved through the years?

  • At this point I commented on how amazing her whip styling was. It’s the truth!

A) At first I just wanted to advertise in my country contenting myself with Facebook but I wanted to expand the promotion of my products [by] coming on Instagram, that way I could draw an intentional customers I appreciate.

Q) Do you remember your first sale and what it felt like?

A) My very first sale happened in 2012, at first I was very new to the case of creation, and I lacked confidence and trust me, I doubted, but once the first sale everything was chained fast word of mouth quickly became my best asset because each clients were delighted with their order. I was really proud of myself and it allowed me to have more confidence and wanting to give the best to every order that I prepare with love.

Q) Do you sell anywhere else, in person or online?

A) I have a little shop, my principal shop is easy but i have a storenvy shop and a french shop for my french customers. If in the future it works well, I would put me to sell in salons that prepare kawaii events’d like it a lot.

Q) What is your mood like when you create art?

A) Every order, I invest myself in the same way and I am always careful and conscientious. I can say that these moments really make me happy because I love what I do and I think I’m lucky we trusted me by giving me the chance to express my passion through these kawaii cases.

Q) Do you have any words of wisdom for all the artisans there?

A) I wish all the creators of a successful business, and especially to continue to dream. I have customers from creating wonderful things as I had the opportunity to see through instagram or different websites.

Q) Where can we find you?

A) Instagram: @kawaiicustomland, Facebook and Etsy.

kclIMG_7724I can honestly say the quality of her work shines through on her creations. I ordered a Koriliakkuma double whip case through Instagram and Etsy conversations. Even with a language barrier, Kimmy was able to help me solidify my vision by sending me many different cabochon layouts. She was one of the first artists that I saw using colored whip in a different style. As cliche as this sounds, I get so many compliments on this phone case. At some meetings, people actually thought I brought in chocolates to share! Although whip is not my main medium for creation, I definitely respect it. I have tried piping a few times myself, mainly for product reviews. It is truly an art. I hope when I get to France one day, (people who know me in real life know when I say I’m going to do something, I end up following through almost always.) Kimmy will want to meet up so I can experience the essence of KawaiiCustomLand ^o^
